The origins of Czech autocross date back to year 1971 when predecessors of present 4x4 buggys proved to be able to handle autocross tracks. The autocross races were first organized as the Czech cup and later as a republic championship. Regular TV broadcasts and high visit rates comparable to soccer attracted more and more new drivers. Their skill grew and so did the quality of their vehicles. The best ones could race in the European cup, which took place also in the Czech Republic. Our drivers Jiří Bartoš, Jaroslav Hošek, Karel and Alois Havel, Václav Uher, Jindřich Kotek, Jaroslav Jurenka, Josef Keřka, Franta Kačírek and Bohumil Křesťan jr. regularly won. TATRA played an important role in the Czech autocross, providing powerful engines, engineers and technicians. Since 1998 they have been working for TALOSA s.r.o., further supporting the autocross teams with their knowledge and high quality engines.
One of the best among the present autocross drivers using vehicles based on TATRA engines is Roman Keřka. His engine is tuned up in TALOSA s.r.o. by the Bordovský brothers (Karel and Stanislav Bordovský).
